China is planning to build about 1,200 new medical instruments stations by 2020 to provide a backup for the countrys growing population, state media reported Thursday.
The news agency Xinhua cited the Health and Family Planning Commission as saying that the new stations would be built in rural areas in areas with limited access to medical equipment.
China has an estimated 730 million people.
The plan is to cover 10,000 of the new sites.
The commission said the plan would help provide health care and nursing care to more than 7 million people by 2020.
China plans to invest $100 billion to build hospitals and clinics over the next 10 years to support the country’s growing population.
The Health and Welfare Commission said last month it would invest more than $2.2 billion in hospitals, clinics and clinics to meet the demand for healthcare and services.
